Blackshark.ai, a leader in geospatial AI technology, proudly announces the release of Version 2.0 of its groundbreaking terrain generation platform at I/ITSEC 2024. Renowned for creating dynamic, high-fidelity 3D representations of the Earth, blackshark.ai is redefining the future of simulation and geospatial intelligence.
The Blackshark.ai Platform: Transforming Geospatial Intelligence
Intelligent Data Fusion: By integrating multi-source data like satellite imagery, Digital Surface Models (DSM), Digital Terrain Models (DTM), attributed GIS vectors, and official airport mapping databases (AMDB), the platform AI-generates a comprehensive, geo-representative 3D replica of the Earth. The fast and powerful data fusion platform enables the creation and analysis of real-world changes and training on top of the most current and accurate digital representation of our planet.
Introducing Version 2.0: Game-Changing Features for Professional Simulation
This update offers users unprecedented flexibility in customizing terrain and airport features, such as building types, architectural styles, and environmental attributes. With the Globe Plugin for Unreal Engine, users can easily adjust terrain details from roof types to textures, ensuring simulations align with exact specifications.
Photorealistic Night Environments
The platform’s new PBR-based global streetlights and night light maps deliver unmatched realism in nighttime simulations, enhancing training scenarios for civil and defense applications.
"Blackshark.ai brings the realism of simulation-ready landscapes and airports to entirely new heights without compromising real-time performance" (Ikhyeon Kim, Solution Architect at Korean Aerospace Industries)

Version 2.0 supports the seamless integration of external geospatial data, enabling users to incorporate their own satellite imagery, aerial photos, terrains, 3D models and GIS datasets. This flexibility allows for even greater precision in representing real-world environments.
Offline Data Storage for High Security and Efficiency
Leveraging the patented procedural content generation technology, blackshark.ai enables offline data storage. This ensures that thousands of geo-representative airports and high-fidelity areas embedded in a global model can be stored and run securely on local machines, as will be demonstrated during I/ITSEC 2024. This is ideal for on-edge or on-premises deployment and defense scenarios requiring high data integrity.
Real-Time Collision Calculations for Large-Scale Scenarios
The highly efficient terrain simulation framework now supports real-time collision calculations, paving the way for large-scale, multi-agent, and multi-domain training scenarios. Bathymetry and land classification data enhance the fidelity of simulations from the sea to land, air, and space.
Physics-Based Sensor Simulation for EO/IR and NVG Training
Blackshark.ai’s terrain data integrate seamlessly with EO/IR and NVG simulations, providing a physics-based environment essential for autonomous system training and sensor simulation.
“Our Sensor Plugin for Epic Games Unreal Engine is quite popular for its highly realistic, credible, physics-based signatures and atmospherics, and advanced optical engineering for EO/IR sensor simulation. But it's been limited by available material-classified terrain content. Indeed, the M&S community has long sought a credible, sensor-simulation-ready, real-time globe. Thanks to our partnership and fully integrated plug-in with blarkshark.ai, our customers and the M&S community can now leverage our sensor plugin on large-area terrain databases representing anywhere in the world.” (Wendy Maurer, JRM Business and Contracts Manager.)

The newly introduced no-code environment empowers geospatial analysts to train custom machine learning models rapidly. Whether for object detection or semantic segmentation, this tool accelerates the process of creating accurate and detailed simulation-ready environments.

Extracting such semantic data from the latest sensor inputs and applying it to blackshark´s terrain generation solution delivers a simulation-ready 3D Digital Twin of natural and manmade infrastructure. Customers can easily integrate these terrains via blackshark´s globe framework into Epic´s Unreal Engine, Unity, NVIDIA's Omniverse, Bohemia Interactive´s VBS4 or via a 3D Tiles Connector and OBJ/ FBX exporter. Additionally, the recently launched BLSK to CBD converter service, provided in collaboration with OLMOS allows friction-free integration of the high-fidelity blackshark.ai terrains into CDB and OpenFlight-based simulators.
